Intent systems do not begin with contact. They begin with attention.

A person reads an article. Visits a category page. Compares vendors. Attends a webinar. Downloads a white paper. Each act may remain locally meaningful — research, curiosity, obligation, timing.

Bombora, 6sense, Demandbase, G2, and TechTarget observe a different question: can this attention be interpreted as buying intent?

The system does not ask what the attention meant to the person. It asks whether the signal is strong enough to act on — to prioritize an account, trigger outreach, or accelerate a workflow.

Reading becomes signal. Signal becomes revenue intelligence. The person's context thins out as the signal strengthens.

Attention becomes intent. Intent becomes action.
